If you’re looking for a magical place, head to Napa. This trip originally started as a family trip and then somewhere along the lines it ended up being an anniversary trip. I guess in Byron’s mind it was always an anniversary trip and in mine it was a family trip, but to make it less complicated, it just ended up being the two of us.
Byron and I have been together on and off for 7 years. We’ve seen really dark times together and well we’ve split up a few times here and there due to those dark times, but somehow, we always seem to find our way back to one another. There’s so much more to this story, but that’s for another post.
Let’s begin with our stay, he had mentioned a few times we’d be staying at a resort in Napa to celebrate our 7 year anniversary, which was November 20th. Leaving Leya behind is always a hesitation because well… mom guilt and two, she’s part of our family. Therefore I feel like she has to come no matter what. But I’ll say this, I’ve learned a few things with this trip, and one of them is that parents deserve alone time too. It may seem obvious, but you guys, when I say I have mom guilt, I have serious mom guilt. I almost never want to leave Leya.
Anyway, back to the good stuff. We stayed at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa Valley. This place will leave you speechlesa, it’s beyond beautiful! We stayed in a cottage, and if you happened to see my stories that day then you know it was practically a house. Seriously move in ready. That alone was shocking to me.
The next day, we set to our first winery at St. Helena called Castillo Di Amorosa, The Castle of Love. Let me beging with the drive, it was so incredibly peaceful and just gorgeous. Wineries everywhere and just beautiful architecture. Honestly you guys, the drive alone through there is just so magical you have to experience it.
The winery was so beautiful, we did a self guided tour and got to see it’s amazing architecture. I think it’s so crazy that people used to live in these huge castle’s.
After we were done with the tour, we headed to the wine tasting. It was set up undergroud and this too was such a unique experience. It was almost like we were sent to a different time, they had so many little things you can purchase, from cooking oils, lotion, to pasta sauces, to souvenirs, there was just so much.
We purchased 6 premium wine tastings and let me tell you we got hooked up! We had like 12, Hassan who was helping us out was soo incredibly helpful and just fun. He definitely made our first wine tasting one to remember.
Needless to say due to him being a phenomenal sales man and the wine being absolutely fantastic we had to make a purchase. The really unique part is that we can’t get that wine anywhere else. We got a bottle of chardonnay and are kind of hesitant to open it lol, since we can’t really get more until we go back again.
Since you’ll be driving through St. Helena, please do yourself a favor and stop by their down town area and it’s literally divine! Oh, and grab a burger at Taylor’s or Gotts burgers! Soo freaking delish!
On Thursday, we spent the day mainly lounging around and decided to head over to Suisun to his aunt and uncle’s house for Thanksgiving dinner.
This trip made me remember why I fell in love with this person. We have had so many ups and downs, we have been through some serious dark times in our relationship, but some how, some way we always manage to pull through. Oh and a bit of a spoiler, we got engaged! More to come on another post!
Till’ the next post!
