Whole 30 Part 2: Week 1.

Oh you guys… this past week was rough yet again. It felt like a 50/50 kind of week, meaning 50% successful and 50% failure. I will always try to be as authentic and real as I can possibly be so let me begin by telling you that this past week of Whole 30 didn’t go as I thought it would. There have been so many small things going around that have made it a bit challenging to stay consistent.

The first week I said I would start (about 2 weeks ago now) we had friends in town and I had a concert that Friday. Let’s just say you can’t drink while on Whole 30 and there was quite a few of that going around. Then, this past week I started off on a really good note, but I kept slipping here and there minor things like cheese or non sugar free bacon. Oh and let’s not forget the mimosa flight on mother’s day.🙄

I felt like such a failure. I had this huge fire and drive the first time around, so of course I asked myself the question I feel like we all do at one point, “what’s wrong with me?” Well, I started jotting things down that I feel have not made me successful and one of them I didn’t include, but I feel is so crucial, is having an accountability partner. Going cold turkey in to diets can be intimidating and hard. When I first started Whole 30 about 2 months ago now, I began with a co worker. It was perfect because we see each other every day, we were there to cheer each other on and keep each other from temptation.

Here’s the thing though and perhaps the most important, I won’t let that define me, and neither should you. I’m here, owning up to it and to remind you that if you started with me and had a slip up, it’s OKAY. We are human and mistakes happen, it’s what we take from those mistakes and let that build us up to not make them again.

Ok, enough with the heavy! Let’s shift to the positive, shall we? Here’s some of the successful meals I had this past week and are super simple and easy recipes:

This little spinach salad has been my go to! It has shredded carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, salt, pepper, and for the dressing I’ve been doing olive oil and red wine vinegar.
I’ve said it before, will say it again now, eggs are your besties! I love mine with mushrooms to give it that meaty flavors, bell peppers for crunch and spinach.
Chicken was not really in my list of cravings this past week, so steak it was. I love a good piece of thin steak with salt and pepper and veggies. Byron loves brussels and I have been on a sweet potato kick. Both actually paired super well together. For seasonings I used: italian seasoning, crushed pepper flakes, garlic powder, salt and pepper drizzled with avo oil.

Week 2 will be better! If you’re reading this or going on this journey with me, know that we CAN do this! Saying no to bad habits is hard, trust me girl I FEEL YOU, but it’s not impossible. I’m thinking for this upcoming week I will do a weight before and in a month we’ll see the after, what do you guys think?

Thank you for coming on this journey with me for round two. Week two will be up next Monday, in the mean time stay up to date with me through Instagram. I created a highlight where I will share everything from meals, grocery lists, links to helpful websites, tips, recipes, anything that I feel will be useful and help you succeed!

Till’ the next post!
